About Lexus

Lexus is a 12-pound Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix with a short coat, trained for life as your devoted companion. She’s only 14 weeks old, so her puppy curiosity is shining through—she learns quickly and relishes snuggles, soft blankets, and being as close to her person as possible. Lexus is the definition of a “velcro dog.” If you want a dog who’ll stick by your side through kitchen duty, relaxing evenings, or just daily routines, she’s right there with you, always ready to lend company (or supervisory skills). Her favorite job is lap warmer, and she takes it seriously. Lexus flourishes when people are around and would do best in a home where someone works from home, is retired, or can bring her along to the office. She’s friendly with other dogs and avoids conflict with cats, but she seems uneasy around little kids—quiet older children or an adult home suits her best. Sleeping through the night in a crate is no problem for her, but daytime solo time is harder; she’s working on confidence and crate fun. She’s making progress with housebreaking, especially when given clear cues and encouragement. Lexus’s foster family has seen firsthand her gentle, social, and loving nature, and her ideal adopter will have the patience for a puppy in training as she continues to blossom. Adoptions take place in Stanwood. Save-A-Mutt’s volunteers coordinate adoption meets Monday through Saturday. Approved adopters must pick Lexus up in Snohomish County—no shipping. Her adoption fee includes microchip, medical records, and a goody bag. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Lexus

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Lexus, as a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix, is best suited for homes where she can be close to her people—apartments, condos, or single-family homes with attentive owners all work for her. She thrives in settings where companionship is abundant.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Lexus doesn't need a huge yard—a small fenced area or daily walks will meet her exercise needs. She enjoys adventures but is just as happy curling up indoors.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Lexus tends to be wary around young children, so a home with older kids or adults is a better match. Her breed mix can do well with children who are gentle and respectful.
