About Beanie
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Beanie! This adorable little girl is about 9 months old and in the 12# range. Beanie is currently in a foster home, she was part of an oops litter. Mommy was a long hair chihuahua. We are confused by the DNA we did on her brother - and wonder if there were not 2 dads. Her brother and sister had a very different 'shepherd' look than Beanie and her brother Parka. DNA said they were Chihuahua / Shepherd, but their continued chihuahua look and size, we are not sure what to think. In her foster home, she has learned all things puppy - crate training, leash walking and more. Once settled, she's pretty silly and sweet. She loves to play with the resident dogs and would enjoy another dog in the home. We think older children would be better in her future home. Beanie's foster mom said if she was a three dog house - she would keep her - because she's just how nice she is! She is now housebroken, but will likely need reminders in her new home. She was in a previous foster home with a very dog savvy cat. She plays with dogs of different sizes, small to very large. Beanie loves a good lap for cuddles too! This puppy is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
