About Heidi
Meet Heidi, a Maltipoo whose resilience is matched only by her playfulness. Despite losing both her back feet due to severe neglect and matting, Heidi remains a joyful, feisty, and loving dog who greets every person with enthusiasm. She’s the type to turn a quick hello into a request for a belly rub, then off to her favorite 'spicy fingers' game, and finally some snuggles when playtime wraps up. Heidi gets along famously with other dogs and would thrive with a gently playful canine companion. She peacefully coexists with cats, though she may bark at them from time to time. Heidi is surprisingly mobile, learning to use a wheelchair (she's an expert at going backward for now) but can't manage stairs and needs a step-free home or someone able to carry her outside. She will require a fenced yard with soft surfaces to protect her legs, as pavement is too harsh. Heidi navigates potty pads and water bowls with ease and will need a caregiver to keep her back nubs clean and safe. Medically, only routine joint supplements are recommended. She’s fully house trained and up to date on vaccinations. At about 9 years old and 12 lbs, Heidi is all heart and spirit, sure to bring constant inspiration and laughter to her next family. Questions about Heidi
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Maltipoos like Heidi generally do well in a variety of homes, including apartments and houses, as long as they get plenty of affection and companionship. Heidi would especially need a home without stairs or with an adopter willing to carry her, given her mobility.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Maltipoos don't require a huge yard, but Heidi would benefit from a secure, fenced area with soft ground where she can safely explore, since hard pavement can hurt her hind legs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Maltipoos are usually gentle and playful, making them suitable for homes with respectful children. Heidi appreciates calm, considerate handling to accommodate her physical needs.
