About Graf
Graf is a 21⁄2-year-old Australian Shepherd whose striking looks are only matched by his gentle spirit. This handsome boy was found in a park, sadly surviving by eating from a garbage can, and no one ever came forward to claim him. While Graf is on the thin side right now, he’s already on the road to recovery and would thrive with a healthy diet, good care, and lots of love. Graf can be quite shy when meeting new people and tends to feel most comfortable around women. Because of this, he’s looking for a quiet, low-traffic home where he can feel safe and settle in at his own pace. He would do best in a household with children over 15, and any children would need to meet him prior to adoption to make sure everyone is a good match. What Graf would truly love most is a female-only home where he can receive the time, patience, and TLC he deserves. However, homes with men may still be considered, as long as they understand that building trust with Graf will take time and gentle effort. Any men in the household will need to meet him beforehand and be willing to go slowly as he learns that people can be kind. Graf may also benefit from living with another confident, friendly dog who can help show him that the world—and the humans in it—aren’t so scary after all. Having a canine companion could help him gain confidence and learn the joys of being part of a family. Because of his sensitive nature, training would be highly beneficial for Graf and his new owner. Positive, patient training can help build trust, strengthen their bond, and give Graf the confidence he needs to flourish. Graf has been through a lot in his young life, but with the right home, he has so much love to give. If you’re willing to offer patience, understanding, and a gentle heart, Graf just might become the most loyal companion you’ve ever known. If you are adopting Graf or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, they are open M-F from 10am-4pm. Adoption fee: $100
