Charlotte is a 3 yr old 11 lb Shih Tzu that came to Underdog in desperate need of an emergency amputation after suffering from a massive infection and a leg that had been broken in two places. We may never know what she endured before she was rescued, but one thing is certain: her resilience is nothing short of incredible. Despite everything she’s been through, Charlotte is pure love. She adores snuggles, soaks up affection, and has a gentle, grateful spirit that melts your heart. In her foster home, she has been calm and easygoing with the other dogs, mostly choosing to ignore them. As she continues to heal, she’s beginning to show a little interest in play. Charlotte would do best with a mellow, older dog to help show her the ropes, or a calm younger dog. She’s just starting to be slightly playful, but she isn’t looking to keep up with a busy puppy—she’s looking to be cherished. From day one, she impressed everyone by using puppy pads right most of the time. She has recently gone outside a couple of times but definitely prefers pee pads for now, so her adopter will need patience as she continues learning. Charlotte now speeds around the house happily and confidently, proving every day that her missing leg doesn’t define her or slow her down one bit. Her adopter will need to bring her to our vet within the first couple of weeks after adoption to have her spayed ( at the expense of Underdog). Charlotte’s dream home is one where she can be doted on 24/7—especially with someone who works from home and wants a constant, loving companion by their side. She has so much love to give and asks for so little in return: safety, devotion, and a forever home where she will never be hurt or forgotten again. We are looking for an age appropriate home that is ready for a 15 year commitment.
