About Edna
Edna is a grumpy little Shih Tzu with major Ewok energy, currently hanging out in Tampa, FL. She’s not for first-timers: Edna bites when her boundaries are pushed, so her adopter needs to respect her pace and give her lots of space to get comfortable. For the first days or even weeks, she’ll probably just keep her distance and review your worthiness from afar. She is food motivated and will slowly come around if allowed to settle on her terms. Edna’s been with her foster a long time and now needs a patient, experienced human who wants a quirky, sometimes spicy, always memorable companion. She’ll only be adopted locally, and she must have a fenced yard—no picking her up or walks in busy places to start. Edna does best in a quiet home with no kids ever, and either as an only pet or with a very chill dog who respects her space. She doesn’t seem to care about cats at all. Edna is crate trained and, when she chooses you, can be a loyal and loving little companion (but make no mistake: she picks her people). If you’re a homebody with a gentle touch and an appreciation for stubborn charm, Edna could be the right challenge and reward. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

Questions about Edna
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Shih Tzus like Edna are typically happiest in quiet, stable homes where they can relax indoors. A small fenced yard is great for her to explore safely. Too much chaos or noise will make her anxious.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Edna and other Shih Tzus don’t require a lot of outdoor space—a modest, secure yard is perfect for her. She enjoys short walks and leisurely sniffing outside, but high-energy outdoor time isn’t necessary.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Shih Tzus are sometimes suitable for homes with gentle, older children, but Edna specifically does not get along with kids. She needs a calm, adult-only home.
