Meet Heathcliff! Heathcliff is a friendly, curious dog who arrived as a transfer from another rescue and has been engaging and easygoing with staff and volunteers. He’s polite on greetings, approaching new people with a loose, relaxed body, and he’s been simple to leash using a harness—though he can be a strong puller once he’s moving. He already knows "sit," and while he’s a bit aloof at times, he’s comfortable with petting and handling, standing calmly before wandering off to check out whatever else catches his eye. Heathcliff shows brief interest in toys and play but is easily distracted, preferring to explore his surroundings. During his food assessment, he ate quickly and was reluctant to lift his head from his bowl, so giving him space at mealtimes will help him feel secure. When meeting another similar sized male dog, he approached with alert curiosity and offered brief, appropriate sniffs before disengaging; he may do best with a more submissive companion. Heathcliff would benefit from slow dog to dog introductions, a thoughtful household intro, and working with a trainer to continue building good manners. This handsome boy is ready for a home where his gentle curiosity and easygoing nature can shine. This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5 day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested?
