About Gus
Start your journey together! Apply now. Gus is a lovable, silly boy who has been spending time in Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center, where he’s picked up some amazing skills and confidence. He thrives in active households and adores cuddles once he gets comfortable. If you visit before 4pm on open adoption days, Gus would be thrilled to show you just how far he’s come! Currently enrolled in LIFT University, Gus is working on managing his energy and gaining assurance in new situations—his adoption even comes with a complimentary 30-minute private training session to help him settle in. Gus already knows some basic commands and will respond wonderfully to continued positive reinforcement. He can be nervous around new people and unfamiliar situations, so he will need patient introductions and a calm environment as he opens up. Gus would do best in a home without other dogs where he can be the center of attention. Due to his vocal nature and nervousness with new faces, Gus isn’t suited for apartments or shared living spaces. He requires a home with children aged six or older, and if there are kids between six and nine years old, a meet-and-greet is needed to ensure everyone’s comfortable. For his safety on walks, he’ll need to go home with a martingale collar, which is conveniently available in the shelter’s retail store. He is also eligible for a Slumber Pawty, giving you a 7-10 day trial period to experience life with him in your home. Ready to bring this loving boy into your life? Visit us and see the joy Gus is waiting to share! Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
