About Princess
Hi, my name is Princess! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home: -Personality: Affectionate, energetic, timid -Can Live with Kids: Unknown history - recommending dog savvy kids 8+ at this time. Up to counselor's discretion. -Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - would likely do best with dog savvy cats who can stand up for themselves. Slow and supervised introductions always recommended. -Can Live with Dogs: Yes with the right match. All initial introductions done at WHS. -Can do Apartment Living: No thanks - too unpredictable. -Potty Trained: Working on it -Bite History: No -Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but highly encouraged to help build a foundation of confidence and good manners! -Energy Level: High! -Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, spay. Princess is a young pup who’s ready to find a home where she can continue building her confidence. She likely spent much of her early life outdoors, so she’s still adjusting to the comforts and routines of being an indoor dog. While she was pretty skittish at first, she’s already making great progress and learning that humans come with treats, pets, and good things. She’s currently working on polite greetings and remembering to keep all four paws on the floor when she gets excited about meeting new people. Princess is a sensitive girl who does best when she has time to observe and warm up at her own pace. Because she’s still growing into her brave self, Princess would thrive in a predictable household with a steady routine and people who understand that socialization takes time. A calm home where she knows what to expect each day will help her feel safe and secure. She’ll do best with adopters who are willing to go at her pace and continue positive reinforcement training to help her navigate the world. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
