Rita’s story begins on the streets of Puerto Rico, where she was found as a stray and given the chance every dog deserves — safety, love, and a path to a brighter future. Once she was ready, Rita made the journey all the way to New York, where she’s now thriving in her foster home while she waits to meet her forever family. In foster care, Rita has been working hard on all the important basics. She’s making great progress with her commands, house training, and is doing well settling into her crate. She’s a smart girl who enjoys learning, especially when treats and praise are involved! Rita loves staying busy. She enjoys her daily walks, working on her Kong, and spending time with puzzle toys that challenge her mind. True to her energetic breed, she’s an active pup who thrives when she has plenty of exercise and enrichment. At the end of a fun-filled day, Rita’s favorite way to unwind is curling up with her foster family to watch a little Bluey. Rita is a sweet, loving girl with a bright personality and a big heart. She will do best with an active family that can keep up with her energy and continue helping her grow and learn. Each pup is examined by our vet and treated for age-appropriate needs. This typically includes: * Full health exam * Deworming * Core vaccines (Bordetella, DHPP series, Rabies) * Microchipping * Monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. Wilder Souls Rescue requires a $100 deposit in addition to the adoption fee, along with a strictly enforced Spay/Neuter Contract that states you must have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption.
