Peggy is a large, adult female coonhound mix, likely with both Bluetick Coonhound and Great Dane heritage. She is house trained, spayed, and currently located in Austin, MN. Peggy has a special medical need related to her eye, which is being managed and will be addressed during her spay. She’s known for her hound traits and would benefit from a home accustomed to the breed.

About Peggy

Peggy is a large coonhound mix with possible Great Dane and Bluetick Coonhound parentage, and she’s about 2 to 3 years old. She came to the rescue after her stray hold ended and has already been fully vet checked and microchipped. Peggy arrived with "cherry eye" in one eyelid that’s currently managed with medication; the plan is to address it during her upcoming spay surgery. Her hound personality is strong—expect a nose-to-the-ground attitude, some stubborn traits, and the occasional vocal announcement. Peggy is not suited to apartment life; she’ll do best in a house with space to follow her exercise needs. She has received some basic training and is house trained. Peggy does well with respectful children over five, but she’s not a match for cats. Her behavior with other dogs is still being evaluated. Adopters who know hound quirks will find her a good fit. If you’re looking for an energetic, sharp companion and can keep up with her exercise requirements, Peggy might be your girl. Adoptions are by appointment for approved applicants only.
