Champ is a 3 year old, 60 lb Husky/Shar-Pei mix who was surrendered here when his owner was no longer able to afford his care. Champ has lived with cats, kids, and other dogs. He is friendly with all humans too! He is a low-maintenance, low-energy boy who still has a silly side. Of course he enjoys going out to play with his doggy or human pals, but he is not possessed by a compulsive need to run for hours. He's done well interacting with dogs of all varieties here thus far. He has a special preference for small dogs and puppies, but he's been getting braver and has found a best friend in similarly-sized Shepherd mix Scarlotte. As office dog, he is mannerly and cute! He's not the quietest dog, having the classic Husky trait of creating a variety of never-before-heard sounds. He makes sure to keep you laughing - he loves to roll around on the couch, rooting around as he flops and twists. He bows deep in play, sneaking in a stretch as he pads over to pick up a crinkly toy that might catch his interest. Due to years of untreated allergies and ear infections, Champ has been on a few months of medication to treat his painful ears. Because of the length of time that it went untreated, his ears are more likely to get infections, so he does require some maintenance cleaning and ear drops a few times a week. Our sweet boy is a little sensitive too, and his allergies require daily medication. However, we think it's a small price to pay to have the sweetest dog in the world in your home. Because of his sensitive ears, Champ, although tolerant towards toddlers, seems to prefer the company of children slightly older that have gentler hands and are more respectful of his space. Champ would love the chance to meet you! It breaks our hearts to see this mild-manner, easy-going, frankly adorable boy languish away in his kennel. The sooner we can jailbreak him the better!
