Julie is a Catahoula / Pit Bull–type mix with an estimated DOB of 10/28/21, weighing approximately 48 pounds. She is a beautiful, quiet girl whose demeanor reflects just how much she’s had to overcome. Julie came to our Southern partner as a stray and had to be humanely trapped. When she first arrived, she was completely shut down. She would hide in the corner of her kennel, avoid eye contact, and was so fearful that she was scared to even eat. It took weeks before Julie felt safe enough to approach on her own, and even then, she did so cautiously and unsure. Whatever happened in her early life clearly left her deeply afraid of people. With time, patience, and consistency, Julie slowly began to understand that she was safe. Once trust started to form, she became incredibly attached to her caregiver. During feeding time, she stayed as close as she possibly could, seeking reassurance and comfort, even though her confidence was still fragile. For a long time, we truly worried that Julie might never be able to find a forever home but she has continued to make steady progress. Julie would bark at unfamiliar people approaching her kennel, not out of aggression, but purely out of fear. She spent over two years living in an outdoor kennel, which added to her challenges. Recently, Julie transitioned into an indoor foster home, and that change has been significant. She is learning what it means to live in a home environment and continues to move forward at her own pace. Julie is a gentle, sensitive dog who needs time and patience to build trust. She is not a dog for a busy, loud, or fast-paced household. Her ideal home will be calm, predictable, and understanding, with someone who will respect her boundaries and allow trust to develop naturally.
