Dog is almost 16 years old according to microchip. Nuclear sclerosis OU. Ears are okay. Heavy calculus and gingivitis, MM pink. Dried fecal material on hind end, shaved during exam. Neutered male in stout condition. Sweet pup. Assessment: Periodontal disease Plan Dog looks wonderful for age but will need senior bloodwork, followed by dental w/ extractions." On 3/3 intake staff noted: "Approximately 16 year-old-male dog. Slight matting on hind area with hair loss on tail. Heavy staining and tarter on teeth. Bright, alert, responsive, very happy boy, easy to handle, wants attention, enjoys cheese." He would sniff toward me and then back off quickly. He eventually allowed me to pet his head, and began to lean into me, licking his lips regardless of whether or not I was touching him."
