About Papas

Papas, known to his friends as Big Papas, is a compact 35-pound black Lab mix with a presence that fills any room. Despite the nickname, he’s not a giant—just packed with energy and an outsized personality. Papas came into the shelter after a hard run, carrying scars from the past: an old wound under his front leg, weakness in a back leg, a BB pellet, and a branded mark on his side. Still, his resilience is something to see—he was nearly written off, but he bounced back with nothing but joy. Meet him, and you’ll notice none of that baggage. Papas bounces and wiggles his way into hearts. He’s eager to play with every dog he meets and works hard to join in the fun, even if both rear legs aren’t 100%. With people, he makes himself known as a loyal shadow—he lounges nearby and perks up the moment you move, ready to be included or simply get a gentle pat. If you’re sitting with him, he’ll rest his good front paw in your hand, just happy to stay close. He walks well on leash, rides calmly in the car, and never asks for more than a comfy bed, a bone, and a bit of attention. His body is still recovering, but Papas’ heart is settled: he just wants a soft, secure home. Everyone calls him an angel, but underneath, he’s a sweet, dignified survivor with a golden soul who has so much love left to give. Click apply to start the adoption process.
