Meet Nelson! Nelson is a 5 month old Border Collie mix who weighed 7 pounds back in January and has been steadily growing since. He is expected to mature into a medium sized dog and is very much in his active, curious puppy era. Nelson is full of enthusiasm and heart. He has a lively spirit and loves to stay busy, whether that means playing with his siblings, exploring his surroundings, or engaging with his people. He is adventurous, confident, and always ready to jump into whatever is happening next. At the same time, he is affectionate and enjoys attention, happily leaning in for pets once he has gotten some of that puppy energy out. Because of his intelligent and energetic breed mix, Nelson will thrive in a home that can offer both physical activity and mental enrichment. Training, routine, and positive reinforcement will help guide him as he continues to grow. He is a smart boy who will do best with an adopter committed to channeling his energy into learning and bonding. We rescued Nelson and his littermates from the Bakersfield Animal Care Center after they were brought in as strays. We are so thankful we were able to bring them into safety and give them the opportunity to grow up surrounded by care and stability. Nelson is fully vaccinated and will be neutered according to our adoption contract timeline. He is looking for an active, engaged home that will embrace his spirited personality and continue helping him build confidence and skills. With the right guidance and love, Nelson is going to be an incredible companion for years to come.
