About Patch

Meet Patch! Patch is a 1-year, 6-month-old medium-sized pup in Durham, NC who knows how to bounce back. At 48 pounds, he’s all muscle and enthusiasm, always ready for a game of fetch or tug. Once Patch trusts you, he’s both cuddly and affectionate—he’ll happily curl up by your side after a long hike or walk. He’s house-trained, crate trained, and feels secure in his crate. Belly rubs and toy-chewing keep him happy, and he thrives on routine and structure, learning rules quickly in his foster home. Patch’s past wasn’t easy—he arrived at the shelter emaciated and with significant skin issues, but thanks to some persistent care, he’s made a full recovery. After a stretch in foster, Patch was briefly adopted but returned through no fault of his own. He has lived with puppies and older dogs, getting along well with most, though he plays hard—another energetic dog or a patient companion would suit him. A meet-and-greet is required if there’s another dog. Patch would do best in a home with older kids or adults as he’s still working on playing gently. Despite sharing space with a confident cat, Patch still tends to chase cats and would do best in a feline-free home. Most days, you’ll find Patch grinning from ear to ear, hoping for a permanent home to call his own. Click apply to start the adoption process.
