About Hero

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Hero is a strong, loyal, and loving three-year-old chocolate and vanilla pit bull terrier searching for a dedicated guardian. Rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control after winning the hearts of volunteers, Hero now enjoys a new life in foster care with Bonafied Rescue. He has recently undergone TPLO surgeries on both back legs to repair injured knees and is currently recovering. For his safety, Hero must be the only pet in his new home right now to avoid any rough play that might set back his recovery. He is well-mannered on a leash, rides well in cars, is crate-trained, and fully housebroken. Hero is also a quick learner who knows commands like sit, down, and paw, and he absolutely loves interactive training sessions and food puzzles. Hero is suited for apartment, condo, or house living, though he would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard. Due to his enthusiasm and strength, a household with children over ten is recommended. Hero greets everyone as a friend—he’s playful, enjoys fetch, and finds joy in any food-oriented games. This healthy, neutered boy is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and has tested negative for heartworm and parasites. He is available for adoption within a two-hour drive of Chicagoland and is currently being fostered in Chicago. Did you know Hero’s birthday falls under Pisces? This sign is known for its loyal and loving nature—just like Hero himself. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
