About Duke
Duke is an 8-year-old Beagle with a memorable grin and a warm, silly nature. After losing his beloved person, Duke has done his best to adjust and is searching for a quiet, steady home where he can settle in. While he's cautious at first and easily startled by loud noises or too much excitement, he bonds deeply once he feels safe. Duke is fully house trained and has experience both with other dogs and with cats—his time in doggy daycare and his former home prepared him well. He's a soft spot for squeaky toys and will happily play fetch, but mostly, he wants to hang out on the couch or stroll through the neighborhood on peaceful walks. Duke can be adopted on his own, as he's found that a friend like Rex, his prior housemate, can sometimes overwhelm his gentle style of play. He’ll thrive in a home without children where someone patient and calm can let him open up at his own pace. Duke is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He’s waiting in Salisbury, NC to meet his next best friend. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

Questions about Duke
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Beagles like Duke tend to do best in a quiet and stable home, ideally with a fenced yard or plenty of space for walks. Their affectionate, gentle temperament makes them great for relaxed households.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Duke will appreciate regular walks and a yard to explore and sniff, but he doesn't need a huge property. A small yard or nearby parks suffice, as Beagles mostly enjoy short adventures and lots of sniffing.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Beagles are generally suitable for families, but in Duke's case, a home without children is best as he is easily startled and thrives in a more predictable, calm environment.
