Adoption fee: $700 Jackpot is a 1–2 year old, 14 lb Terrier mix who proves that sometimes the best things in life come with a little spark and a lot of personality. Rescued from the shelter, he may have been shy for about 24 hours— but by day two, the real Jackpot hit the scene. The shell cracked, the joy burst out, and the snuggles began. From that moment on, he decided his foster was his person. He happily follows from room to room, not in an overwhelming way, but in that sweet, companionable “we’re in this together” kind of way. He loves being near his people— curled on the couch while you read or watch TV, lounging on the floor close by, or supervising your day from a sunny windowsill while keeping tabs on the neighborhood squirrels and birds. Mornings are his absolute favorite. He wakes up full of life, starting the day with cuddles, then a happy romp around the house before heading outside for potty time. Breakfast is served around 8 a.m., and dinner around 5 p.m., and he’s always ready. During the day, he rotates between sunbathing in the yard, watching wildlife like it’s premium entertainment, and engaging in what can only be described as professional-level toy management. Jackpot is a joyful, energetic toddler at heart. He plays daily and has fully embraced the concept of toys— plural. Many, many toys. He’ll proudly bring them to you for a game of fetch or an enthusiastic round of “keep-away.” He chews with dedication and gusto, working his way through Nylabones, no-hide sticks, and anything appropriately designated as his. Like any curious youngster, he’s occasionally sampled items that weren’t on the approved menu, but with supervision and structure, he happily redirects to his own stash. He even has a charming habit of “burying” his prized chew sticks— either outside in the yard or, if he’s feeling a little lazy, halfway under the carpet with a strategic nose nudge. It’s a full production, and it’s hilarious. He’s house-trained now and learned to use the doggy door, which was a total game-changer. Once he realized he could pop in and out at will, he embraced his newfound freedom. He doesn’t use potty pads and isn’t a fan of the crate, but he has settled nicely into a bedroom routine. He starts the night in his cozy basket at the end of the bed, though he occasionally attempts a stealth mission under the covers because, in his opinion, closer is better. On leash, Jackpot is still gaining confidence. He’s learning that the leash means adventure and is walking better each day. He doesn’t pull excessively and doesn’t bark at other dogs. Off leash, he interacts well with a neighbor’s dog and seems eager to play. On leash, he’s cautious but polite with people— no barking or growling. Quick movements can make him nervous, as happened once with a couple of teenage boys who approached too fast, but he simply tucked his tail and moved away without reacting. He will alert bark when someone comes to the door, but once visitors are inside and he realizes they come with cuddles and belly rubs, he warms up and then happily accepts the attention. When left alone, he may bark or howl briefly, but he settles, and it hasn’t been disruptive. Jackpot strikes a wonderful balance between energetic and easygoing. He loves to play, loves to lounge, and absolutely loves to snuggle. He’ll gently wake you in the morning if you dare to sleep in too long. One of his funniest quirks? He refuses to fully sit if the ground is cold or wet. Instead, he performs an impressive half-squat hover that has to be seen to be appreciated. He also enjoys rolling onto his back and wiggling around with pure happiness. Jackpot is a bundle of joy, affection, comedy, and warmth wrapped up in a perfectly portable 14-pound package. If you’re looking for a playful companion who will brighten your days, make you laugh with his antics, and keep you warm at night, this little Terrier mix is ready to hit the jackpot with his forever family.
