Dallas winters are comfortable for Labrador Retrievers. White Rock Lake and the Katy Trail are excellent for daily exercise. Labs handle occasional ice storms well, but watch for slippery surfaces on their eager runs.

Heavy shedding season for Labs coincides with Dallas’s best outdoor weather. Brush daily. The Katy Trail and Trinity River Audubon Center are perfect for spring exercise before summer heat arrives.

Summer

75°F to 97°F

Jun – Aug

Dallas heat is brutal for active Labrador Retrievers. Exercise before 7 AM only and test pavement with your hand. Labs don’t self-limit during play, so enforce rest breaks to prevent heatstroke.

Fall

55°F to 82°F

Sep – Nov

By October, Labrador Retrievers can enjoy full exercise sessions at White Rock Lake again. Fall evenings along the Katy Trail are ideal. Labs start growing their winter undercoat as temperatures drop.
