About Zodd
EMERGENCY PLACEMENT DEADLINE CLOSE OF BUSINESS THURSDAY 02/26/26 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR FOSTER THROUGH PACC Name: Zodd Animal ID: A888138 Age: 7 years Weight: 40 lbs. Web Link: 24petconnect.com/PimaAdoptablePets/Details/PIMA/A888138 About: Zodd is a 7-year-old Sharpei mix with an irresistibly wrinkled face and a heart that is currently feeling the heavy weight of shelter life. Since arriving as a stray in December 2025, Zodd has shown us what a sweet, friendly companion he can be, but the loud and stressful environment is starting to take a toll on him. When Zodd first arrived, he was an easy-going what we categorize as a blue dot walker who passed other dogs without a second thought. Recently, however, we have noticed a significant shelter decline. The constant stress has caused his behavior to shift; he has moved to orange dot status, exhibiting leash biting and the potential to redirect his frustration onto handlers when walking past other kennels. Zodd is currently being treated for hypothyroidism, which has left him with dry, itchy skin all over his body. A quiet home will help him heal both physically and mentally. Due to a recent altercation incident in playgroup where Zodd became over-stimulated and difficult to redirect, he is now on an Emergency Placement Deadline. Zodd is looking for a low-key, zen environment where he can decompress for at least 30 days. He is ideally looking for a home where he can be the only pet. However, If you have another dog and are interested in Zodd: A formal dog introduction at PACC is required. You must be committed to a strict slow-introduction protocol at home, never leaving the dogs unattended. You must have the space (crates, spare rooms) to safely rotate the dogs and maintain separate daily routines to keep the peace. Zodd is not a candidate for dog parks or off-leash areas. Despite his recent struggles, Zodd remains a friendly boy who is simply overwhelmed by his surroundings. PACC believes there is a perfect, quiet place out there for him to rest his wrinkled head. If you are a savvy dog owner who can provide the structure and decompression Zodd needs, please come to PACC and ask to meet him today. Available for long term foster care (30+ days) or adoption through PACC. Interested parties: Must visit PACC before the COB Thursday February 26, 2026 deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with. Home Management Plan In Shelter Decline: • Zodd has begun to decline behaviorally in the shelter environment due to ongoing stress or overstimulation. This may present as increased reactivity, withdrawal, or sensitivity towards other dogs or in area with high populations • Decompression Needed: Once in a home, they will need dedicated time and patience to decompress and re-adjust to life outside of the shelter. • Initial Transition: It’s normal for dogs experiencing shelter stress to be overstimulated or unsettled for the first few days to weeks. Allow them to set the pace for interactions and provide structure, routine, and positive reinforcement to support their adjustment. Dog Selective: • Required Dog Meetings: Zodd must meet all resident dogs prior to adoption to ensure compatibility. • Selective Play Style: They prefer to choose their own friends - they may get along well with some dogs but not with all dogs. Introductions should be monitored closely for positive body language and relaxed interactions. • Muzzle Training: Conditioning them to a muzzle before introductions is recommended. This provides an added layer of safety while keeping initial meetings low-stress. • No Dog Parks: [insert name] should not attend dog parks or other uncontrolled social settings. These environments can lead to negative experiences and may set back progress. • Behaviors could improve with proper management and/or professional training. Would do best as an ONLY pet in the home Medical • meds for hypothyroidism
