About Molly Is Blind
Molly the 22 lb mini-Doodle is a special girl who needs a special home. When we rescued her from a local shelter a few weeks ago we weren’t expecting anything to be wrong with her. Shelter staff are usually very forthcoming about any medical or behavioral issues they notice while an animal is in their care, but apparently nothing seemed amiss about Molly during her shelter stay. When we brought her in to our program, we pretty quickly noticed that something was off with Molly. As it turns, out she is completely blind. She is only three years old so her vision impairment is definitely not related to her age. We believe Molly may have experienced some head trauma which not only caused her vision loss, but also has left her with some neurological quirkiness. When Molly gets excited she will often spin in circles, sometimes even chasing her tail. She can usually be redirected fairly easily and these spells usually only last a minute or two. Molly is highly affectionate, calm and easygoing. She has excellent hearing and she will bark to alert you if someone comes to your door. Molly loves to lay on the sofa and be near her people. She is crate-trained and she will use potty pads when needed. Molly is good on a leash but she also enjoys having her freedom off-leash in a fenced yard. Due to her blindness she has to be protected from falling down stairs and around pools or other bodies of water. Molly tends to stick close to her people and she navigates her world quite well despite her visual limitations. Molly is fabulous with other dogs and she readily follows “the pack.” We would love for her to have at least one other dog as a companion in her new home. Molly is fully vetted -- spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations and deworming. The adoption fee is $300. We accept payment in the form of cash, CashApp and Zelle. You can apply to adopt at https://sohfga.com/dog-adoption-application/.
