About Joy Is
Joy is a darling, sixteen-year-old Australian Terrier mix whose whole world has turned upside down. Her person, the woman she spent her entire life beside, recently passed away. The relative who inherited Joy didnât want a dog, so this sweet senior found herself in a place full of strangers, carrying a lifetime of memories with no one left who shared them. Joy is old, yes â but she didnât get the memo. She still trots with purpose and enjoys exploring and making new friends. She was examined by our vet last week and had senior bloodwork which shows she is in good health for her age. Joy has been diagnosed with a heart murmur which is common is older dogs. Right now she needs no medication, just monitoring. Joyâs hearing and vision arenât what they once were but she is still able to get around just fine. Her little mouth only has two teeth left which gives her a ridiculously adorable snaggletoothed grin. Joy is good with other dogs most of the time, though she guards her food. This is understandable because she isnât used to sharing with other pets. She just needs to be fed separately and all is well. Itâs a small request for a dear old lady and we are glad to accommodate her while she waits for her new forever home. Joy probably doesnât have a lot of years left but she deserves to be loved for the rest of her days. She brought immense joy and companionship to her first mom and we know she will give that same gift to the next person who gets the honor of caring for her in her golden years. Joy is fully vetted -- spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations and deworming. The adoption fee is $300. We accept payment in the form of cash, CashApp and Zelle. You can apply to adopt at https://sohfga.com/dog-adoption-application/.
