Starlight is a tiny survivor with a big heart, having overcome neglect, abuse, and malnourishment with remarkable resilience. She’s now a hearty eater, house trained, and wonderfully affectionate—she loves belly rubs, being carried, and snuggling close under a warm blanket. At night, she’ll happily sleep pressed right up against you, and during the day she’ll curl beside you. Starlight also enjoys toys, has mastered fetch, and surprises everyone with how fast she can move on her brisk walks. She gets along with other small dogs and is deeply devoted to her person. While she can still be skittish when she senses a threat—especially toward the human she adores—she’s learning everyday that people can be safe and loving. Starlight is ready for a forever home that will celebrate her courage and give her the security she deserves. 4 years old and 5 pounds
