Meet Maye! This sweet, smart, social love is a 3.5-month-old, 20 pound, labrador retriever mix who is ready to find her forever family. Maye is a very affectionate puppy that loves her time with her people. She is playful- especially with our two dogs. After a round of chase in the backyard, they will head inside for some wrestling- which is always followed by a nap. Maye will happily cuddle up in her people's laps, or with our other dogs on their dog beds, or with a chew toy as she lounges in her crate. Maye is a real champ when it comes to potty training. She goes to the door and whines to let us know that she needs to go outside. She is still very young, so her forever family would need to teach Maye the routines in their home and continue to be consistent with her potty routine. At night, Maye sleeps in a crate in our home office. Over the past two weeks, Maye has been able to sleep longer and longer before waking to potty. She is currently sleeping for around 6 hours before she "potty wakes". After going outside, Maye will go back to sleep in her crate, but she is also happy to join her humans for some additional group rest. Maye is eager to explore the world around her, but a fenced yard (visible or invisible) is not required. Although she currently enjoys time playing in our backyard, she also enjoys sniffing and exploring the neighborhood on her daily walks. Maye does well on a leash, and since she is petite, it's easy for children and adults to enjoy taking her on a walk. Maye has had exposure to children and done well. She is a young puppy, so her forever family would need to be dog savvy enough to understand that puppy often explore with their mouths and be able to redirect Maye to a chew toy while she continues to learn what is and is not okay to chew. Maye has not been exposed to cats, so how she would respond is unknown. Maye will make a great pet for a person or family who embraces the fun of raising a puppy and appreciates the satisfaction that comes from guiding that puppy into an adult dog who becomes a best friend and lifelong companion.
