About Dixie
This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. **Please read Dixie's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Bow wow WOW! This girl is a queen! Meet Dixie - a 9 month old, Mountain Cur / Weimaraner mix, who weighed 40 pounds (as of 2/18/26). This gorgeous girl was found as a stray on the streets of Tennessee and has grown up in rescue which is so rude! She's clearly destined to be a posh New England princess and we wholeheartedly agree! Dixie is the original people's princess. She's the cutest girl, happy-go-lucky and is so much fun, you'll burn 20 pounds just from laughing at her antics! Yes, this beauty is a fun-loving royal who's always down for an adventure. Going off to fight dragons? She's ready to slay. Frolicking in the woods? She'll warn you to not eat the poisoned apple from that creepy old woman. Hiking a mountain even though you didn't stretch beforehand? Dixie won't judge! She'll give you licks of encouragement as you struggle with each step and question your life choices. Dixie loves her people and especially older kiddos! No shade to the little ones, but she's quite strong (40 pounds of pure muscle, baby!) and might play a little too rough for them. They can, however, admire her beauty and give her lots of compliments. She appreciates that. This girl is house trained and fully socialized. She is also petite, and probably won't be very big once she's fully grown which is great so you can give her piggy back rides around town! You can't expect a royal like her to touch the ground, can you? Dixie is a sweet, trusting girl who'll make any castle the talk of the kingdom! Run, don't walk to bring this royal home! Adopt Dixie today! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Dixie, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] ** PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
