About Ethereal Esme

We found friendly Esme at a church parking lot in December 2024, she was living in a colony in a filthy, debris filled yard behind a drug dealer’s house. She walked out to us (strangers, mind you) from behind a fence. She rubbed our legs and chirped affectionately as if we were old friends. Clearly we couldn’t leave her behind! This beautiful calico lady is about 2.5 years old. Her yearbook superlative would be “most likely to be painted by Picasso” because she is so beautiful. Esme is a chatty lady, she’s going to tell you all the tea. She chirps, she roars… she is hysterical. Esme is SO excited to greet her foster human in the mornings, rubbing on the wall in excitement and giving her mom headbutts of enthusiasm. Esme’s generally a low energy cat, although don’t be fooled, she still loves a few good play sessions during the day. She’s got a flirty personality, and turns on the charm when she wants more food or more treats. Her happy time is mealtime. She rubs the wall in anticipation of getting pets from mom and getting her food. Her coat is very soft. Although Esme has always lived with other cats, it is clear that she wants to be the star of the show. So, she is looking for a home where she will be an only pet. Her ideal home is a quiet one with a quiet, patient person. She’s been living in foster with other cats, and she needs a home where she can decompress. She can be reserved and may be inclined to hide initially. With some time, space, and understanding we know Esme will come into herself. We can see what a fantastic cat she is, even in a setting that isn’t ideal for her. Just think what she’ll be like when she can relax and be herself! Esme is a healthy and robust girl, but she will require slightly more attentive veterinary care. She was diagnosed with a mild (II of VI) heart murmur (although happily further testing indicated that heart disease is unlikely). We also learned that she has stomatitis, but after receiving good dental care, she is feeling great. With regular veterinary care, both are easily managed. Which reminds us, Esme is easy to pick up and put in a carrier. She is easy to take to the vet and well behaved once she gets there. The vet said “she is going to make an amazing pet for someone!” Because she can be shy and overwhelmed by lots of activities, we recommend a home without dogs or children (in addition to no cats). Esme is spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. She is ready to go! Esme is in foster in southern CT, but we travel for great homes. Esme is a darling! We love her and know her perfect home is right around the corner. If it is you, apply to adopt her here: https://form.jotform.com/250073732465152
