Kuzco has been thriving in foster care and it’s become clear that the shelter environment didn’t allow his true personality to shine. Outside of the kennel, Kuzco is a calm, quiet dog who enjoys a relaxed routine. He sleeps a good portion of the day but also loves playing with toys and heading out for walks. On leash, he can be strong and may pull at times, though he’s also capable of loose-leash walking and continues to improve. He’s very food-motivated, making him easy and enjoyable to train. Kuzco is house trained and does very well in an x-pen when left alone and overnight. He’s a quiet companion overall—aside from his impressively loud snoring!—and he even doesn’t mind the rain, which is a definite bonus. Kuzco would do best in a quiet, adult-only home. He is unsure around strangers and has shown some protective behavior toward his foster by giving warning growls, so a low-traffic household without frequent visitors will help him feel secure. While he hasn’t been integrated with other dogs in the home, he has done well walking alongside them. His experience with cats is unknown. Affectionately, Kuzco is a big softie who has no idea how large he is. He loves to lean into his people, rub against them, and soak up head pets. With his huge, smooshy snout and oversized head, he’s impossible not to fall for. Kuzco is looking for a patient, understanding home where he can continue to decompress, feel safe, and enjoy a peaceful life with someone who appreciates a gentle giant.
