About Bear
Bear is a big, energetic youngster who wins everyone over with his friendly, affectionate personality. He’s got the look of a German Shepherd and Lab mix, dressed in a black, long coat, with plenty of athletic build. Bear loves to run, wrestle, and play—he’s happiest burning off energy outside. People and other dogs get the best side of him; he’s playful, open, and eager to connect. He’s had a rough start, abandoned in a remote Texas cemetery and saved just in time from a packed rural shelter, but he doesn’t let that hold him back. Bear needs a home that understands the breed’s drive and activity level. A fenced yard and a routine with games and exercise will help this guy thrive. He’d make a wonderful family member for adopters who have some experience with large, high-energy dogs. While he gets along with kids, older children are best, since he could knock over little ones with his excitement. He’s not yet house trained, so expect to do a little work there, and he’s being neutered soon. Currently fostered in Texas, Bear is ready to start his next chapter in the NJ area. Questions about Bear
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Bear is a German Shepherd and Black Lab mix, so he’ll do best in a home with a secure yard and space to run. Active households where he can be included in daily routines are ideal.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Large-breed mixes like Bear thrive with a fenced yard or regular access to big outdoor areas. Apartments might be tough unless he gets plenty of walks and daily exercise.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Bear, as a German Shepherd/Lab mix, is generally good with children, especially older kids who can handle his energy level. Supervision is always wise with smaller children, as his size and excitement could accidentally knock them over.
