Dixie is a 2-year-old herding-type mix who has officially retired from mom duty after successfully raising eight very rambunctious puppies. Now it is her turn to be spoiled. She is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where she can finally be the center of attention. Dixie is an absolute sweetheart who makes friends everywhere she goes, including the vet. She is affectionate and happy, will hop right into your lap for kisses, and then gladly settle in for some quality couch time. She knows basic obedience, walks fairly well on leash, and while she may pull a bit at first, she settles in nicely as the walk goes on. She would be thrilled to be someone’s hiking or running buddy and would do best in an active home that also appreciates downtime. According to her previous owner, Dixie does best with male dogs, prefers no female dogs, and definitely no cats. She ignores horses, goats, and chickens on the other side of the fence and does great with kids, though her excitement may be a bit much for very small kiddos.
