Zues
AvailableZues is a large, male American Staffordshire Terrier mix in New York, NY. He has a short coat and is housetrained, neutered, and current on his vaccinations. Zues gets along well with adults and older children but is best as the only dog and does not get along with cats. Though he’s experienced some upheaval, he adjusts well in stable, loving homes.
About Zues
Zues has been through a lot in his young life, having changed hands multiple times before finally ending up at the NYC Animal Care Centers. When his previous owner could no longer keep him, Zues was surrendered due to allergies and health issues in the family. Initially, he tried his best to stay positive—wiggly, gentle, and sociable—but the shelter environment wore him down. His situation became desperate, and he was days from euthanasia when a compassionate rescuer stepped in and gave him another shot. Zues is a striking, big-bodied grey American Staffy mix with a lovable and affectionate personality. He bonds fast with his people and thrives on connection—he wants to be included and truly feels happiest as part of the action. Zues knows basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "go," is house trained, and listens well to instruction. He’s attentive, eager to please, and enjoys interactive play, especially with his squishy ball. His adaptability means he settles in quickly once he trusts you. The main requirement is that he be the only dog in the home, as he’s shown reactivity toward other dogs. Zues is fine with adults and older children, but he does not get along with cats. He also has a known chicken allergy that is easy to manage with guidance and the right diet. Zues seeks an active adopter willing to offer him a routine, structure, and the one-on-one attention he craves. If you’re after a devoted, intelligent, and playful companion, he could be your perfect match. He wants nothing more than to give—and receive—love. Start your journey together! Apply now.
