About Zoinks
Zoinks is a two-year-old neutered male Shepherd mix who arrived at the shelter feeling unsure and a bit on edge, but with patience, treats, and a calm approach, he’s started to blossom. He was initially nervous and barky, but now his curiosity and gentle side are showing more each day. Zoinks recently joined doggy playgroup—muzzled at first for safety—and surprised everyone with calm, mellow interactions with both male and female dogs his size. This short-coated, tan fellow walks nicely on leash and forms bonds with patient handlers, especially if treats are involved. He does best in supportive, low-stress environments and is still working through his nerves in sensory-heavy situations like vet visits. Zoinks would thrive with a family ready for a patient, steady companion—ideally in a calm home that offers structure and time for him to build trust, and possibly alongside another stable dog. Though he’s not yet house trained, he’s treat-motivated and learns quickly. Zoinks is eager to be someone’s loyal sidekick and is ready for adventures with his own Mystery Inc. team. They don’t come much sweeter once their shell cracks—give Zoinks the chance to show you. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Shepherd mixes benefit from having access to a yard or regular walks. Zoinks will appreciate an outdoor space where he can explore safely, but thoughtful leash walks and exercise will also keep him content.
