Gardenia is a sensitive, soulful girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. When she first meets new people, she can be very fearful and needs patience and gentle understanding. Give her a little time, though, and she’ll show her true self—one who just wants to curl up in your lap and feel close to her person. She would do best as the only pet in the home while she continues to work on her social skills. She’s a very special dog who forms deep, meaningful bonds and will be incredibly devoted to the person who earns her trust. She’s looking for someone who can spend much of the day with her and provide consistency, comfort, and reassurance. She’ll need a calm home with children ages 13 and up, where her boundaries are respected and she can continue to grow in confidence at her own pace. For the right person, Gardenia will be an unbelievably loving and loyal companion.
