Instead, we received unexpected news that changed her journey but not her worth. Hope is not pregnant, and during her visit she was diagnosed as FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While that diagnosis can sound scary, we want to be very clear and reassuring: ✨ FIV is NOT contagious to humans or dogs ✨ FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, happy lives with routine veterinary care ✨ Hope can live as an only cat, or with other FIV+ cats Her diagnosis is through no fault of her own. FIV is most often transmitted through deep bite wounds, something that commonly happens to unaltered cats just trying to survive outside. Hope did nothing wrong. She simply endured more than any cat should have to. Hope is estimated to be 3–4 years old and is truly one of those special souls. She is incredibly affectionate, gentle, and loving with people of all ages. She seeks out human connection, adores pets, and would be perfectly content being someone’s cherished one-and-only companion. ✨ Even more good news: Thanks to an incredibly generous donor, Hope’s adoption fee is fully sponsored with an approved application. She is spayed and fully up to date on vaccines. The vet said it looked like she did have kittens in the past so it is wonderful she will not have to worry about that again and can live the life of luxury. Even cooler fun fact. She was born with one ovary. This is something that is pretty rare with kitties, which makes her even more special. All Hope needs now is a home that sees her for who she is — not a diagnosis, but a loving, loyal cat who deserves comfort, safety, and a happy ending after everything she’s been through.
