AvailableAmos is a distinguished Great Dane mix, around twelve and a half years old, living out his golden years in Carrollton, TX. He’s an extra-large, neutered male who’s up to date on vaccinations and sports a medium-length coat. Amos is fully house trained and handles life indoors with true maturity. He has no current special needs and has shown resilience after successfully managing both allergies and arthritis thanks to a careful diet and medical support.
About Amos
Amos McCoy, whose name is a throwback to classic TV, is every bit the dignified elder statesman of the group. At over 11 years old, Amos has been with Great Dane Rescue of North Texas for just over a year, working through some persistent ear issues and skin problems. He’s weathered a slew of allergy treatments, specialist visits, and dietary changes—which, after some trial and error, now keep him healthy on a limited ingredient, salmon-based kibble. It took rounds of targeted medication to finally tame his ear infections, and these days, only a bit of yeast remains—which is managed with strong probiotics. Amos also has arthritis, but regular injections have noticeably improved his mobility; on a good day, he’ll almost bounce up off his bed. He’s fully house trained, crate trained, and well-mannered, which speaks to a previous life of structure. Although he loves a quiet nap, Amos is genuinely easy with everyone—kids, big and small dogs, and even cats. For being the oldest in care, he’s still got a spark. He’s available for adoption in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex for anyone who appreciates an old soul with experience and heart. Start your journey together! Apply now.
