Meet Scout, an 11-month-old beagle mix with floppy ears, a black-and-white coat, and a whole lot of heart packed into his 34-pound frame. Scout is a total sweetheart who lives for human companionship—he loves snuggling in laps, hanging out underfoot, and greeting his people with full-body, butt-wiggling excitement. He enjoys toys, chasing balls, and settling in with a cozy blanket or a good bone. Scout is housebroken, doesn’t mark, walks beautifully on a leash, and is motivated by treats and praise—he truly wants to make his humans happy. Scout does well with other dogs and enjoys playful bursts a few times a day, but he’s not pushy and tends to follow rather than lead. He can be a little timid in new situations or around unfamiliar people, dogs, or noises, but with patience and reassurance he warms up quickly and shows his affectionate side. He’s crate trained and currently crated when his humans are away or at night. While he doesn’t love the crate and may cry for about 10 minutes before settling, he’s making steady progress and benefits from consistency and a calm routine. By the time you meet them, they've already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. They've been checked by a veterinarian and are up to date on necessary vaccinations, including Rabies and DHLPP. They have also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and have started heartworm and flea preventative medication.
