About Riley
Riley is now officially searching for his forever home. After two years in foster care, he’s made real progress but still needs a unique adopter who understands what it takes to earn his trust. Riley can be anxious; he appreciates patience, a gentle approach, and a calm environment. If rushed or pushed, he will let you know—sometimes that means barking or keeping his distance. Having his routines and safe spots is key; his crate is his comfort zone even if the door stays open. Riley eats a specific diet to avoid stomach upset and mustn’t have table scraps or people food. He’s almost eight and has had extensive vet care, including being neutered and current on vaccines. With most teeth missing after recent dental work, he eats softened food. He loves to be warm, seeks out sweaters, and is dedicated to heaters, a reminder of his Texas roots now adjusted to Ohio winters. Treats are his kryptonite; he’s highly food motivated, but consistency with his nutrition is a must. Riley does well with other calm, similarly sized dogs but cannot manage big or energetic young dogs. A home without children suits him best; adults who give him time and space to open up will be rewarded with his affection—on his terms. Adopters must be local to Franklin, OH in case things don’t work out.
