About Bright

This could be the start of something paw-some. Bright's incredible smile will catch your eye the moment you meet him! He radiates happiness and is undeniably one of the smartest dogs you'll encounter. Treats are a major motivator for him—he already knows how to sit, come, and even stand up and beg on cue! With the medium build of an Australian Kelpie and striking coloring reminiscent of a German shepherd, Bright is quite the handsome super mutt. At about 1.5 years old and weighing 46 lbs, Bright brings a blend of keen intelligence and playful goofiness to your life. Professionally trained, he excels at learning commands, but maintains his own sassy, bouncy personality. He adores toys and car rides, and is content spending time in his crate. Bright would thrive as the sole focus of your world and isn’t compatible with small animals or young children—his forever family should be ready to continue reinforcing his training to ensure his success. All of Adopt a Pit Rescue’s dogs, including Bright, are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on preventative care. Please note that meetings are by approved application only, and a home visit is required; adoptions are limited to within a 2-hour radius of Dayton, OH. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

Questions about Bright

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Australian Kelpies typically thrive in active households with access to outdoor space, such as a home with a securely fenced yard or rural properties. They do well with families that engage them in regular physical and mental activities.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

This breed is highly energetic and benefits greatly from a large, securely fenced yard or ample outdoor space where they can run and play. Without this, they require frequent walks and interactive playtime to burn off their high energy levels.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Australian Kelpies can be good with older children who understand and respect dog boundaries, but may be too energetic or herding-oriented for very young kids. Supervision is recommended to ensure positive interactions.
