About Windy

Meet Windy: The Scruffy Sweetheart with a Heart of Gold! They say that some of the best chapters in life start with a mystery. That's certainly true for Windy, our 10-month-old Border Terrier / Patterdale Terrier mix. Found as a stray near the LSU campus, Windy's past is a bit of a secret, but her future? We think that's where the real magic begins. At 27 lbs, Windy is what we like to call "schmedium"-the perfect size for a lap cuddle but sturdy enough for a Saturday morning hike. With her endearingly scruffy coat and soulful eyes, she has a way of casting a spell on everyone she meets. One look, and you're hooked! Windy is a social butterfly when it comes to people. She thrives on human connection and has been a favorite among shelter volunteers. Here's the "inside scoop" on her personality: The Socialite: She is incredibly people-friendly and loves to be where the action is. The Independent Diner: Windy loves her treats (especially bully sticks!). She prefers to enjoy her meals in peace, so she'd appreciate being fed separately from other furry siblings. The Cat Critic: We introduced her to Julius, our resident "Stray Cafe" cat. After a quick, humbling "bap" from Julius, Windy decided cats are best admired from a distance. She should do just fine in a home with feline friends! Dog Interactions: While she can be a bit vocal when she's behind a fence (barrier reactivity), she does well in playgroups. She just asks for a slow, proper introduction to new canine friends to feel her best. Windy is a versatile girl! Because she walks beautifully on a leash, she would be just as happy in a trendy apartment going for long city walks as she would be in a house with a yard. Windy's Vitals: Age: 10 months (Still a puppy at heart!) Weight: 27 lbs Health: Fully UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and Heartworm Negative. Windy is more than just a stray who was found wandering-she's a loyal companion waiting for her "person" to find her. Are you ready to let this scruffy girl blow you away? PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. *An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application* All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
