Hello Everyone - my name is Natchez, though my foster human keeps calling me “nachos” for some weird reason. He’s kind of funny that way. Aside from being downright handsome, I am also happy and very playful and - dare I say - a world class snuggle-bug. It may take me a little bit of time to warm up to you, but there is no such thing as personal space once I get to know you. I haven’t yet been exposed to many other dogs, but I am looking forward to making some 4-legged friends. Or even 3-legged. I don’t discriminate. I do well in the car, and love to be out in public meeting people and getting all the pets. We’re still working on my leash manners, and I sometimes get distracted by other dogs and the occasional squirrel or other furry little distraction. I’m crate trained and house-broken. Though between you and me, I prefer not to be in the crate, because you aren’t in there with me. I can be a little loud in the crate at first, partly because of my separation anxiety, partly owing to the hound in me. But I will quiet down after a while. I’m house-trained, but I will occasionally get startled or frightened by loud noises and may have a slight accident here and there. I’m working on it, and the person who calls me “Nacho” says I’m getting better. I’m working with my foster human on basic commands. I know “sit” and “stay,” though when I get too excited “stay” sounds an awful lot like “stay right next to me.” It’s an honest mistake.
