About Malachi

Malachi is a large adult Ragdoll who needs someone with real cat experience. He’s healthy, neutered, and up to date on all his vetting, but when stressed or startled, he can lash out with bites or scratches—a response rooted in nervousness, not illness. His former owner cared for him deeply but could no longer keep him, and since coming into rescue, Malachi has been slow to trust in new settings. He can tolerate other animals and is intelligent, but he reacts defensively if pushed too fast. Malachi needs a steady routine, patience, and someone willing to let him settle at his own pace. Because of his behavior when afraid, he isn’t suitable for homes with children. For now, he’s eating a G.I. diet, and the rescue suggests not changing his food right away, though that may just be temporary. To support his transition, adoption includes a session with a behaviorist. Adopters must be in the DFW area, and you’re always welcome to return him if it’s not the right fit—this is standard policy for all Saving Hope animals. This special cat needs an equally special, understanding adopter. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Malachi

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Ragdolls like Malachi are typically happiest in calm, stable homes where routines don’t change much. They thrive best when given space to adjust at their own pace.

Ragdolls such as Malachi are indoor cats by nature and should be kept inside for safety. Access to windows or secure outdoor enclosures is a bonus, but not required.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Most Ragdolls can do well with respectful children, but Malachi specifically needs a child-free home due to his behavioral needs.
