About Oakley
Oakley is an 8-year-old Belgian Shepherd/Malinis who has journeyed through some tough times prior to her arrival. Initially battling Leptospirosis and undiagnosed Addison's Disease, it took time for her to start feeling safe. With patience and careful interactions, she slowly warmed up, particularly appreciating food as a trust builder. Now, she is much more open to petting and interaction. Oakley is gentle when taking treats and sometimes seeks attention by bringing a toy. She prefers clear boundaries and has shown progress with reassurance and structure. While she’s protective of her space and belongings, she thrives on supervision around other dogs and uses her kennel comfortably as a safe haven. Intelligent and eager to learn, Oakley knows commands such as sit, down, and shake. She's fully house trained and can be kenneled for a full workday without issues. She's also playful but needs durable toys due to her strong chewing. At the vet, she tolerates a muzzle with treats quite well. Currently, she needs a devoted home that understands her requirements for Addison's Disease, for which she is on monthly injections and daily medication. With understanding and support, Oakley shows great potential for a fulfilling life. Don't miss the chance to welcome this sweet girl into your heart! Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
