About Beau Located In

Beau has already endured more than most dogs ever will. At just over a year old, this Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix came out the other side of a vicious attack in a Texas park, a harrowing ordeal that left him with severe injuries across his body. Most of the wounds have healed, including his shoulder—where he needed months of treatment, frequent bandage changes, and surgery. Heartworm treatment kept him on crate rest for months, restricting activity at a time when he craved movement and stimulation. He’s frustrated and needs more interaction than his current foster can give, but he’s almost physically healed and only has a month of rest left. Beau is currently reactive to other dogs, likely stemming from his trauma, and he needs a calm space with a patient person who understands the complexities of recovery—ideally with breed experience or a background in supporting sensitive, healing dogs. He can’t be around other dogs for several months and needs slow, gentle decompression. At his core, Beau is affectionate, people-oriented, and loves connection—he enjoys gentle attention, thrives on enrichment and brain games, and lights up on quiet walks. He’ll give hug-like cuddles when he feels safe, leaning in for comfort. This dog needs a quiet home, time to build trust, and a steady person willing to help him decompress and heal. In the right environment, Beau’s resilience and gentle nature will come through fully. He’s ready for a peaceful home where he’s truly believed in and cared for. Ready to meet your new best friend?
