Gilly was found as a stray running a town in northwest Ohio. He popped up locally, was seen over the course of a week or so, navigated the frozen ice of the Sandusky River, and found our humane trap and safety. Initially, Gilly went to the county shelter, but once we learned that he likely had had little prior human contact, we took him into our rescue. His skilled foster has given him time, patience, routine, and non-pressured affection. In her firm and loving care, Gilly has grown from an unsocialized, scared, protective pup into a more confident, treat-loving, joyfully playful dog who is learning to accept affection and even returns it, especially if food is involved. He also is learning obedience cues. He's fully grown at 37 pounds, neutered, and vaccinated. Gilly would fit best in a quiet home without young children, with humans who are home much of the time and who can give him the attention and routine he needs to thrive. A physically fenced yard is an absolute requirement. He does walk well on a leash, but he also enjoys zooming around a safe space, as you will see in the video included here.
