About Aries
Aries is a striking Shepherd/Husky mix with a playful spirit and a real knack for winning hearts. At just over a year old, he still has that eager energy of a teenager and a lean build, typical for his age and breed. While he falls on the larger side, he carries his size with the confidence of a dog who knows how to have fun. When Aries arrived at rescue, he was diagnosed with a heart defect. His new family should be prepared to give daily medication, but the rescue will make sure that part is covered—Aries won’t go without what he needs. He’s high-energy, just like you’d expect from a Shepherd/Husky, and doesn’t let his condition slow him down. His favorite things? Running, playing with toys, and testing out those classic herding moves—nudging with his nose and chasing after moving feet. He occasionally lets out a Husky-style howl, adding to his character. People are his universe. Aries enjoys snuggling and looks for affection from those he trusts. He’s all about the toys and can play fetch until you run out of steam. He’s house-trained and not destructive in the home, but without a companion or activity, he may start digging, so he needs someone who can keep him engaged. Aries is mastering basic manners and picking up obedience quickly, but those joyful jumps still need fine-tuning. He is best as the only dog in the house, especially where adults or older teens can keep him active and involved. His adoption includes a free 6-week obedience class at Elmhurst Animal Care Center, which should help smooth the transition. Aries is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. If you’re ready for rewarding companionship and don’t mind a few quirks, Aries could be the one for you. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
