About Marlin

URGENT: Seeking a new foster or foster to adopt for Marlin! Marlin is 9 months old (DOB 6/7/24) and weighs about 52 lbs. He has been in his current foster home since 8/30/24. He is healthy, neutered, micro chipped, and up to date on all age appropriate vetting. He is fully potty trained and house broken. He was kennel trained, however in the past few months will only go in there to eat and to have his Kong/chews. He does fine in the house at night and during the day when his foster family is gone without being in the kennel. Loves: riding in the car (anywhere and everywhere), enrichment activities, learning new skills, playing with toys, chewing sticks, being outside, his people, walking, scent work, food, treats, going to training classes, playing with the flirt pole, playing fetch, napping on the couch, and giving kisses! Marlin knows sit, down, touch, off, walks on a leash nicely, and has good recall (especially for a pup). He has been clicker trained and is very treat motivated to learn. He is confident in trying new skills and interacts confidently with new objects. He enjoys training classes and learns quickly. He is learning to stay and is easily redirected when chewing on something he shouldn't be. Needs: to be the only dog in the home, continued training, daily mental and physical exercise, and a fenced in yard is preferred. His current foster family has 4 dogs at home and he gets along great with 2 of them, 1 is tolerant of him, and the 4th has been temporarily relocated to a friend's house until Marlin can find another foster. Marlin had a visit with a behavioral vet recently and just started taking medication to help with anxiety, hyperarousal, and fear (he is very timid/fearful around new people, but his foster mom will help with the adjustment). He has been on the meds for a few weeks and is doing well on them! Due to his fear/hyperarousal around other dogs, it is recommended he be the only pet in the home. He doesn't show any aggression towards people. He graduated from his AKC STAR class in December and from a polite greetings class at Canine Karma. He will be starting a fitness class soon. Marlin has LOVED his drop in sniffy classes at Force Free Dale Dog Training and his informal agility training. Canine Karma in Toledo has offered to continue his training at a reduced cost for his new foster family if they are local to the area. If you have any questions, please ask! His current foster family loves this little boy and are sad that their multi dog home is no longer a good fit for him. They want to find the best home for him where he can thrive and live his best life.
