About Atlas
Meet Atlas, a large, sweet Labrador Retriever mix with a short, red and tan coat. Atlas can be strong, especially in the shelter, but once he gets out for a walk, he settles down and becomes much easier to handle. Life in the shelter is overwhelming for him, and he needs a home where he can decompress and get the stimulation he needs. With plenty of energy to burn, Atlas is no couch potato—playtime, outdoor activities, and adventure suit him perfectly. He prefers families with older children (10+) who can handle his strength. Atlas is house trained, snuggly after exercise, and prone to thinking he’s still a lap dog despite his size. He shows interest in other dogs, especially females, and would likely be fine with male dogs as long as they meet beforehand. However, Atlas is not a good fit for homes with cats, birds, or other small animals—his instincts to chase are too strong. Every potential adopter must live within a four-hour drive of Parkville, Missouri. Ready to get out and go, Atlas is waiting for someone who loves big dogs with big hearts.
