About Prickly Pete
Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Prickly Pete—he really is prickin' awesome! Prickly Pete is a famous Instagram pup who triumphed after being rescued from a canyon full of cacti and thorns. Now at The Animal Pad, he's a two-year-old, large, Terrier mix weighing in at 72 lbs, already neutered, and ready for his forever family. Pete is a goofy, easy-going dog who forms deep bonds with his people. He loves going on hikes and workouts, but is mellow and relaxed at home. This big guy is fully house, crate, and leash trained, making him an easy transition into a loving home. He does well with other dogs and would be fine living with or without them. However, he’s best suited to adults only—kids are not a match for his space. Prickly Pete alerts with a bark when strangers arrive but settles down quickly and enjoys his independence. He can be left alone without issue and is happy to lounge at home after an adventure. If you’re looking for an adult-only companion who will keep you active and is always ready for a cuddly TV marathon, Prickly Pete is your guy! They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Prickly Pete
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Terrier mixes are typically adaptable but do especially well in active homes that can give them plenty of outdoor activity and companionship. Ideally, they thrive in environments where daily walks and stimulating playtime are part of the routine.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Terrier mixes benefit from a securely fenced yard or regular access to outdoor spaces. While they can live in apartments with daily exercise, more space allows them to burn off energy and stay mentally stimulated.

Terrier mixes can be suitable for families with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs. However, some individual terriers may prefer adult-only homes.
