About Macadamia
They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! You're going to go nutz for him! Meet Macadamia, a charming 3-year-old, 60-pound neutered male Border Collie mix with a lovable personality. After being rescued in Mexico and spending some time in foster care, he made his way to sunny San Diego in search of his forever home. Macadamia is already house, crate, and leash trained, although he can get distracted on walks and benefits from patient redirection and positive reinforcement. He does have some resource guarding issues, which require ongoing management and a structured environment. Macadamia thrives with both physical exercise and mental stimulation—think brain games, learning tricks, and regular walks. He needs a patient, understanding adopter who will provide structure and help him continue on his path to becoming the best companion. Guidance from a professional trainer (especially one willing to provide weekly in-home lessons) would help set both him and his new family up for success. Macadamia is seeking a single-family home with no young children, ideally where structure and understanding are priorities. This affectionate "velcro dog" has bilateral hip dysplasia, currently managed with daily joint chews. He’s very loving, but can be wary of men and will benefit from slow, positive introductions and lots of treats to build trust. Despite these needs, Macadamia promises a home full of joy, fun, and heart. He would do well with another dog—especially a female—who can match his playful energy, and prefers older kids around. Macadamia is ready for an adopter excited about patient training, enrichment, and lots of love. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
